Ministry of Defense: MLRS “Tornado-S” used individual guidance shells in a special operation
MOSCOW, November 21 – RIA Novosti. The Department of Defense said the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket systems use high-precision rockets, each of which can be aimed at a specific point.
The department released a video showing the preparation of the combat vehicle for work: entering the firing point from a camouflaged position, pre-launch actions, firing rockets of 300 mm caliber, redeployment to avoid return fire.
“Accuracy has increased significantly, because it is now possible to send each shell to a certain point. We can distribute each shell to a certain frame,” said Ivan, head of calculations of the MLRS installation.
According to him, such guided missiles can accurately hit targets at ranges of more than 100 kilometers, especially in open areas. We are talking about lightly armored and armored vehicles, recessed points, as well as command and personnel vehicles, air defense batteries, bunkers and other purposes.
As stated in the Department of Defense, each projectile is guided through satellite systems.
“Tornado-S” also received an automatic fire control and guidance system, a topographic positioning system, a gyro compass – all this made it possible to reduce the time required to complete the mission. In addition, the area of destruction has increased: “Smerch” hit an area similar to nine football fields before with a full salvo, and “Tornado-S” – with twelve.
