Historian Perinçek: Turkey’s operation in northern Syria was directed against PKK and Washington
ANKARA, 22 November – RIA Novosti. Turkish historian Mehmet Perinçek told RIA Novosti that the Turkish Armed Forces’ air operation in northern Syria and Iraq was aimed not only at the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is banned in the country, but also against Washington.
Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that 89 targets were destroyed in the air operation in northern Syria and Iraq. Ankara conducted an airstrike on the banned Kurdistan Workers Party’s (PKK) Syrian wing in northern Syria on Sunday – attacks were reported in northern Iraq as well as the city of Kobani. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan described the operation as a success and did not ignore the future of the ground operation. Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar announced that 184 militants were neutralized in Operation Claw-Sword in Syria and Iraq, which lasted for two days.
“This operation of the Turkish army should be considered as a second front opened against the USA after the operation in Ukraine. Russia’s special military operation against the peripheral regime is directed not only against Ukraine but also against the plans of the USA. Likewise, Turkey “This operation by the Turkish army is not only against the PKK and PYD forces, but also against Washington.”
The historian stressed that “the USA is arming the PKK and providing financial support”.
“The USA is disturbed by this operation of Turkey and has previously reported this operation to the PKK/PYD. Because the USA is on the same front with the PKK/PYD and Turkey, Russia, Iran and Syria are side by side. The only way to solve the Syrian problem is to ensure its territorial integrity. Turkey Russia and Damascus should cooperate on this issue and eliminate the elements violating the territorial integrity of Syria. The Turkish army’s operation is also aimed at this purpose. It is aimed at ensuring the territorial integrity of Syria and coincides with the interests of Syria and Moscow.” should be supported by ground operations and PKK-PYD forces should be expelled from here. Of course, if Turkey has a ground operation, it must be done in coordination with Damascus and Russia,” he said.
