Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his condolences to Indonesian President after earthquake
BEIJING, November 22 – RIA Novosti. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a telegram to Indonesian President Joko Widodo expressing his condolences for the earthquake that killed more than 260 people in Java. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
“I was shocked to learn about the earthquake that caused great loss of life and property damage in Indonesia. On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, I express my deep sorrow for the loss of life and offer my sincere condolences to their families.” Xi Jinping is dead and injured, according to the Foreign Ministry.
He also expressed confidence that, under Widodo’s leadership, people in affected areas will be able to overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes.
A 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck the southwestern region of Chianjur County, West Java Province on November 21. According to the latest data, 268 people died, most of them children. At least 377 people were injured, 31 missing. More than 2,300 homes were completely destroyed or severely damaged. The strength of an earthquake comes from the shallow depth of its epicenter. Also, the earthquake triggered a landslide that covered at least one village.
