German Economy Minister Habek said that he met with President Macron in Paris

PARIS, November 22 – RIA Novosti. German Economy Minister Robert Habeck, who is in Paris to attend the conference of the European Space Agency, said that he met with French President Emmanuel Macron.

At a joint press conference with French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, Habek said, “Yes, I met with the President. It was a working meeting. We also discussed all the issues we touched on today with him.”

Visiting Paris the previous day to attend a conference on support for Moldova, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock also had an impromptu meeting with Macron.

As the French and German media have already noted, relations between France and Germany are at their lowest point. The most controversial issues concern the marginal price of gas, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s reluctance to support Macron’s idea of European sovereignty and common defense, and the French leader’s negotiations on construction behind his German counterpart. A natural gas pipeline between Barcelona and Carcassonne also caused the conflict.

The meeting of the French and German governments between the leaders of France and Germany, scheduled for October 26 at Fontainebleau, has been postponed to January. According to the head of the French Ministry of Finance, the reason for the transfer was the busy schedule of the participants. However, German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said participants “need more time” as agreements have yet to be reached on a number of issues in the energy and defense fields.

The ministerial meeting of the 22 countries of the European Space Agency (ESA) will be held in Paris on 22-23 November.
