The Pentagon is unaware of the talks between Iran and Ukraine on Tehran’s supply of drones to Russia.
MOSCOW, November 23 – RIA Novosti. Sabrina Singh, Deputy Spokesperson for the US Department of Defense, said the Pentagon was unaware of a possible meeting between Iran and Ukraine allegedly devoted to an investigation into Tehran’s supply of military drones to Russia.
“I am not aware of such a meeting. We did not support it,” he said at a briefing.
Singh added that it would be “wonderful” for such a meeting to actually take place.
Earlier, IRNA reported that the Iranian side held an expert meeting with Ukrainian experts to investigate this issue, following publications about Tehran’s alleged supply of military drones to Moscow.
Western countries allege that Iran has supplied Russia with drones for military operations in Ukraine. Moscow and Tehran have denied such accusations. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that Tehran supplied drones to Russia a few months before the start of a special operation in Ukraine. He also stated that Tehran could not meet with Kyiv about the UAV due to the absence of the Ukrainian side.
Iran’s UN Ambassador Amir Saeed Iravani categorically denies allegations that Tehran has transferred drones to Russia for use in the conflict in Ukraine. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani denied the newly emerged information in the American media that Iranian weapons were supplied to the Russian side for use in hostilities in Ukraine. The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that the issue of Russia’s purchase of warplanes from Iran was artificially brought to the American media.
Western countries accuse Russia and Iran of collaborating on the supply of drones to camouflage their failure to implement the Iran nuclear deal, but their hysteria indicates that a painful thought process continues in the US and EU about the future of the Joint Comprehensive Plan. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin spoke about the Action Report on Iran’s nuclear program in an interview with RIA Novosti. He stressed that the accusations of Western countries about such deliveries are unfounded, with this they are trying to justify their own illegal supply of weapons to Kiev.
