CSTO Secretary General Zas: Organization can help normalize Tajik-Kyrgyz border
YEREVAN, 23 November – RIA Novosti. CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said Wednesday that the organization has resources to help normalize the situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border if both countries deem it necessary.
“In the Central Asian region, we pay special attention to the further normalization of relations on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border. We believe that the CSTO has the necessary resources and experience to assist our two states in achieving this goal.” Meeting of CSTO legal bodies in Yerevan.
According to him, CSTO, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan can provide assistance if it deems necessary.
Undefined territories between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan periodically become a conflict zone. The situation at the border of the two countries last escalated on September 14-16. Then, as a result of clashes on both sides, more than 100 people were killed and about 400 injured.
