Peskov: The future and success of the Russian special operation in Ukraine is beyond doubt
YEREVAN, 23 November – RIA Novosti. Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, said that the future and success of the Russian special operation in Ukraine is beyond doubt.
During Peskov’s meeting with journalists, the head of state’s press secretary was asked whether he agreed with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s view that the future of the CSTO depends on the success of the special operation in Ukraine.
“We can agree on that, provided that the future and success of the special operation is in doubt,” Peskov replied.
Russia launched a military operation against Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin described his goal as “protecting people who have been subjected to eight years of bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime.” For this, according to him, it is planned to “disarm and demilitarize Ukraine” so that all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” in Donbass are brought to justice.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces attack only military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops, and as of March 25 they have completed the main tasks of the first stage – they have significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The ultimate goal of the operation, according to the supreme commander, is “the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that will guarantee Russia’s security”.
