Ukrainians were shocked by the decision to evacuate from a hotel in the suburbs of Dublin.
MOSCOW, November 24 – RIA Novosti. Ukrainian refugees complained It was broadcast on Irish RTE Radio 1 to be evicted from their hotel in Dublin, where they have lived since May.
Nearly 200 refugees have been living in a hotel in the Dublin suburb of Klondalkin for several months, and as of 28 November last week they received a notification that they will be resettled in an as-yet unknown location. The incident caused “shock” among Ukrainians.
As one of the Ukrainian women living in Klondalkin stated, they want to stay in the same place. The woman said, “We were depressed, confused and upset. The kids will be depressed.” According to him, another negative point is related to the fact that half of the refugees living in the hotel find employment in the region and will be unemployed if they are resettled.
“No one knows where to send them. – Ed.). There are no places and landmarks,” he complained.
Siobhan McKieran, principal of one of the local schools where refugee children are housed, said she and her colleagues were also “in shock”. “We have no idea where they are going. We have absolutely no idea what kind of life they are preparing for. What we do know for sure is that wherever they go, they have to start all over again, and it’s very difficult. It’s terrible.” – they have no say in this, they’re vulnerable to where they’re going,” said McKieran.
At the same time, the local Department of Integration told RTE that “due to the unprecedented demand for housing, they need to arrange resettlement as needed.”
Currently, 42,000 Ukrainians and 16,000 asylum seekers live in Ireland.
