YEREVAN, 24 November – RIA Novosti. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia announced that an Armenian soldier was injured in a bomb attack on the border with Azerbaijan on Wednesday.
“On November 23, at around 13.20 (12:20 Moscow time), soldier RA received a gunshot wound at a battle position east of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border as a result of the fire opened by the enemy.” says the agency’s website.
The injured were reported to be in good health and not life-threatening.
There are periodic clashes on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The last serious aggravation occurred on the night of 13 September. Yerevan reported that the Azerbaijani army opened fire on the border regions of Armenia, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, Syunik regions (connecting Armenia with Iran), using artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles. These regions have nothing to do with Karabakh. Baku reported that the Armenian army opened fire on the positions of the Azerbaijani troops on the border, and a conflict broke out. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Armenia of intending to disrupt the peace process. Both sides reported casualties among their armies.
In the morning, the parties agreed on a ceasefire. As the head of the Federation Council’s international committee, Grigory Karasin, told RIA Novosti, a ceasefire on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan was achieved thanks to Russian efforts, including the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. and the work of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
