Foreign Minister Szijjarto: Hungarian companies do not violate sanctions by working in Russia
BUDAPEST, 25 November – RIA Novosti. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Hungarian enterprises operate legally in the Russian market without violating the sanctions, so the situation is unacceptable when they are banned from working in the Ukrainian market for this reason.
“While Hungary is doing everything to support Ukraine … I would like to point out that we find the idea of not allowing Hungarian businesses to operate in Ukraine unacceptable. The launch of many products of Gedeon Richter’s pharmaceutical concern is unacceptable. Szijjártó told Hungarian journalists , said that the conversation was broadcast on social networks.
He emphasized that these enterprises operate absolutely legally, without violating any rules, and that their only “crime” in quotation marks is to have representations in Russia as international companies.
“Their representations in Russia do not violate any international rules and sanctions. We expect the EU to influence the Ukrainian authorities so that businesses from EU countries are not banned from engaging in economic activity in Ukraine,” Szijjarto said.
