Zaporozhye NPP will create a backup source of electricity at the expense of thermal power plants

MOSCOW, November 25 – RIA Novosti. “Russia is creating a backup energy source for the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant,” he said.rostoma“.

“Given the great importance of the energy supply reserve for the nuclear safety of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, especially in winter, we decided to continue the restoration of the open, despite the direct threat to the lives of the personnel working in these jobs. The switchgear of the Zaporizhzhya TPP,” the state agency said in a statement.

As noted, the Russian side has already tried to do this, but each time “the Ukrainian response was targeted bombardment of the thermal power plant”.

Now the nuclear power plant receives electricity through two high-voltage lines, which, as the events of recent weeks have shown, are regularly and, as a rule, turned off at the same time by Ukraine.

“How Kiev behaves will clearly demonstrate the true position of the Ukrainian leadership on ensuring the nuclear safety of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant,” the state-owned company said.

The head of the military-civil administration of the Zaporozhye region, Yevgeny Balitsky, the previous day, said that the two power units at the nuclear power plant continue to operate at low power, and the heating in the city of Energodar is provided by diesel generators.

Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper, next to Energodar. This is Europe’s largest plant of this type in terms of unit count and installed capacity – it has six power units of one gigawatt each. The facility has been controlled by the Russian military since March. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to regularly bomb Energodar and the nuclear power plant site adjacent to the city.
