Musk said that the absence of a post from Trump on Twitter did not upset him
WASHINGTON, November 26 – RIA Novosti. Billionaire Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, said that the absence of former US President Donald Trump’s posts on the social network did not upset him.
“I’m not bothered by Trump not posting anything. It was important that Twitter fixed a serious bug – he blocked his account even though it wasn’t a violation of the law or terms of use,” Musk said on the social network.
He said that blocking Trump, who was the then-incumbent president, undermined Twitter’s credibility for half of the United States.
This isn’t the first time Musk has shown “indifference” to Trump’s inaction on social media. He dedicated a meme to the former president about resisting passions and temptations, with which he compared the platform’s use, and completely restored his account after polling users.
In early 2021, the social network administration banned Trump from using its service. This happened shortly after Republican supporters, who owned the White House at the time, tried to prevent the US Congress from ratifying the results of the presidential election. Democrat Joe Biden won. The executives argued that the blocking of Trump’s account is likely to incite people to riot because of his tweets.
Twitter unblocked Trump’s account on November 20, 2022, following a poll by Musk. The former US president’s account has since amassed 87.8 million followers, but no new entries have appeared. Trump said he would not return to Twitter but would prefer his own social network, Truth Social.
