Policy: California governor Newsom promises Biden not to compete with him in the election
WASHINGTON, November 26 – RIA Novosti. California Governor Gavin Newsom has assured US President Joe Biden that he will not compete with him if he decides to run for a second term in 2024, writes Policy.
According to the publication, the White House was “seriously disturbed” by rumors that Newsom, 55, could challenge 80-year-old Biden for the Democrats’ presidential nomination.
Newsom, who was re-elected for a second term in November, said: “I’ve told everyone in the White House, from the chief of staff to his wife … I’m totally with you, imagine I’m with you.” The most populous American state, he told Politico in an interview.
The publication writes that he forwarded the same message to Biden the night after the election.
Biden promises to make a decision in the coming weeks after meeting with his family to run in the 2024 election.
Former President Donald Trump has already announced his intention to run for the Republican Party, where Florida Governor Ron DeSantis can compete with him.
