Izvestia: European Union to consider request to reconnect Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT
MOSCOW, November 28 – RIA Novosti. The European Union said it would consider the possibility of reconnecting Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system. “Izvestia” European Commission representative Peter Stano.
The EC representative also stated that most Russian banks have not been disconnected from SWIFT, adding that “a sufficient number of payment channels remain open”. As an example, he cited Gazprombank, which, as noted, is not subject to sanctions.
“Any change in EU measures will require a unanimous decision from Council member states.”
The diplomat explained that European operators have the right to interact with Russian banks under sanctions in transactions in the field of food and fertilizers.
Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that Russia plans to ensure the complete reconnection of Rosselkhozbank to SWFT.
It was learned that the sanctions imposed on Russia in the summer caused Sberbank, Rosselkhozbank and Moscow Credit Bank to be disconnected from SWIFT. More than 11 thousand largest organizations in almost all countries of the world are connected to this financial message system.
