Musk spoke out against online censorship and briefed on the suppression of freedom of expression
WASHINGTON, November 29 – RIA Novosti. American billionaire Elon Musk has declared a “revolution” by talking about online censorship in the United States and announced that documents containing information on the suppression of freedom of speech will be published soon. He stated this on his social network Twitter.
“The revolution against online censorship in America,” he wrote.
“Twitter’s documents on the suppression of free speech will soon be published by Twitter itself,” Musk said.
Musk noted that the community “deserves to know” the truth, but did not specify what kind of documents were involved.
Musk previously criticized Apple for stopping ads on Twitter, claiming that he “hates freedom of speech in America”. Musk also launched a social media poll on whether Apple should publish a full list of censorship actions that affected its customers. Almost a million users took part in the survey, and the vast majority of them answered yes to the billionaire’s offer.
Last week, the Financial Times reported that a number of big brands are reducing their ad spend on Twitter due to the policy of social network owner Elon Musk. The publication said, citing industry sources, that after several waves of layoffs and departures, Twitter’s advertising team has shrunk so much that many agencies are now out of touch with the company and have received little or no messages in recent weeks.
In addition, many large companies have previously announced that they are suspending ads on Twitter after the social network came under Musk’s control. Among them were German automaker Audi, American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, food manufacturer General Mills and Mondelez International, one of the world’s largest confectionery manufacturers, French cosmetics manufacturer L’Oréal and others.
