Kryvyi Rih authorities warn of possible emergency and permanent power outages

MOSCOW, November 30 – RIA Novosti. The possibility of using emergency and mobile power outage schemes remains in Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region on Wednesday, reported head of the city military administration Alexander Vilkul.

A day ago, the national energy company Ukrenergo reported on Tuesday that the capacity gap in Ukraine’s energy system has reached 30%. The company explained that the increase in power outages was due to the emergency shutdown of units at several power plants on Monday morning, as well as further increase in consumption due to worsening weather conditions.

“All important infrastructure is working in Kryvyi Rih. There is still a possibility of interruption by emergency and power engineers,” Vilkul said on his Telegram channel.

He urged residents to keep water in their homes and charge their phones and flashlights.

In response, the press center of the Ukrainian energy holding DTEK said that emergency power cuts will be implemented on Wednesday in the city of Dnipro, the administrative center of the Dnipropetrovsk region, and in Odessa, “stabilization programs will not work.”

On November 23, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that all nuclear power plants and most thermal and hydroelectric power stations were temporarily cut off due to Russian attacks, leaving the vast majority of electricity consumers without electricity. The next day, power supply to critical infrastructure facilities was restored.

The attacks on the Ukrainian infrastructure of the Russian Armed Forces began on October 10, two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, behind which, according to the Russian authorities, the Ukrainian special services stood. Attacks are made on energy, defense industry, military command and communication facilities. After the November 15 strikes, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that almost half of the country’s energy system has been shut down.
