Ukrainian Ambassador to Madrid Pogoreltsev: Not an envelope, but a box exploded near the embassy building
MOSCOW, November 30 – RIA Novosti. Ukrainian Ambassador to Spain Serhiy Pogoreltsev reported that a box, not an envelope, exploded near the Ukrainian embassy building in Madrid.European reality“.
Earlier on Wednesday, 20 Minutos newspaper, citing sources, reported that an employee of the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid was slightly injured when a device hidden in a mail envelope exploded.
“Despite initial reports in the media that a ‘letter’ has exploded, in reality it is a much larger package than a letter containing documents,” the newspaper said.
It was noted that the package aroused the secretary’s suspicions because it did not have a return address and did not resemble the mail that diplomats usually receive. So he handed the box to the commander, who decided to open it in the garden.
“As soon as I opened it, I heard something click there, I threw it right away, and even then I heard an explosion. Although the embassy commander no longer held the box in his hand, the explosion injured his hands. And he says he got something like a bullet shock,” Pogoreltsev added.
The ambassador did not speculate as to who might have sent the package.
