FSB: phone scammers under the guise of intelligence officers most often call from Ukraine
MOSCOW, December 1 – RIA Novosti. The FSB in Moscow and the Moscow Region said in a statement that telephone scammers under the guise of FSB officials call Muscovites most often from Ukraine, recently the calls have become more frequent.
“In the Moscow region, criminal tendencies, including terrorist ones, were recorded, as well as fraudulent acts carried out by phone calls to seize citizens’ funds … In most cases, the calls were made from Ukraine by exchanging subscriber numbers with the hotlines of Russian law enforcement agencies,” he says.
Disguised as employees of the Russian FSB and the security services of banks, scammers offer naive Russians to “participate in the capture of criminals.” Why should you just take a loan or sell property and transfer money to “protected bank accounts”.
“In the continuation of the criminal scheme, phone scammers, receiving money transfers, persuade naive citizens to set fire to social infrastructure facilities, as well as cars in crowded places, which is the composition of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ” an act of terrorism,” adds the report.
In fact, they remind the FSB, neither over the phone nor in person, that the security forces have no right to demand a transfer of funds to any account or transaction for the sale of property.
