Saakashvili’s supporters held a parade in the center of Tbilisi to support him.
TBILISI, 3 December – RIA Novosti. Supporters of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who is serving a prison sentence, held a parade in support of him on the main streets of Tbilisi.
Images from the action were broadcast by Georgian TV companies.
It was also noted that dissidents from the United National Movement, together with sympathizers, gathered near the office of the ruling Georgian Dream party and demanded that Saakashvili be transferred to a foreign clinic for treatment. Patrol police brigades are on duty to keep order.
“There will be no political messages and political demands today. Today is a solidarity rally,” United National Movement member Levan Khabeishvili told reporters. Earlier, Saakashvili’s lawyer, Shalva Khachapuridze, said that the politician asked his supporters to stop political campaigns during the protest.
