st. Petersburg, December 8 – RIA Novosti. Nikolai Korchunov, Ambassador of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Arctic Council, said that the BRICS and SCO countries are interested in cooperating with Russia in the Arctic region.
“We note the strengthening of such confrontational rhetoric by a number of partners, the attempts to spread the ideology of deterrence, conflict, competition, military and economic dominance to the Arctic. The current situation, accordingly, requires regrouping from us, more with countries and organizations that share our approaches to the sustainable development of the Region. “using a wide range of methods and formats of international cooperation,” he said.
We see an increasing interest in the Arctic and cooperation at high latitudes among the member states of the BRICS, SCO, Latin America, Middle East region and Asia-Pacific region.”
