Blinken says banning Afghan women from humanitarian NGOs would be a disaster
WASHINGTON, December 25 – RIA Novosti. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned that the Afghan government’s ban on women working in humanitarian organizations would hamper aid delivery and have disastrous consequences for Afghans.
Previously, the Taliban* ordered all local and international non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan to suspend the employment of female workers.
Earlier, Afghan media reported that the Ministry of Higher Education in the Taliban government had ordered a break from the education of female students in private and public universities in Afghanistan. Afghanistan’s Minister of Higher Education said that the education of girls in secular universities violates Islamic laws and violates Islamic traditions.
