EU and 12 countries call on Taliban to reverse decision banning women from working in NGOs
MOSCOW, December 29 – RIA Novosti. In a joint statement released by the US State Department, it was stated that the EU and 12 countries called on the Taliban* to reverse the decision to ban women from working in non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan.
Previously, the Taliban* ordered all local and international non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan to suspend the employment of female workers.
“The foreign ministers of Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the head of diplomacy of the European Union are seriously concerned about the reckless and dangerous order of the Taliban. * Women’s national and international “Banning him from working in NGOs puts millions of Afghans in need of humanitarian aid to survive at risk. We call on the Taliban* to reverse this decision immediately.”
Earlier, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths, heads of OHCHR, UNHCR, FAO, WFP, UNICEF, WHO and other bodies also urged the Taliban* to allow women to work in humanitarian NGOs.
* The movement is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities.
