The DPR reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired six NATO caliber shells at Gorlovka.

DONETSK, January 2 – RIA Novosti. Ukrainian soldiers fired six 155-millimeter NATO caliber shells at the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka. Representation of the Donetsk People’s Republic Ukraine’s Joint Center for Control and Coordination of War Crimes Issues (JCCC).

“Fire was recorded from the VFU (Ukrainian armed formations – ed.) in the direction: 20.57 (Moscow time) – Druzhba settlement – Horlivka settlement (Nikitovsky district): six shells of 155 millimeter caliber were fired,” the ministry said in a statement on the Telegram channel.

Gorlovka is located 50 kilometers north of Donetsk, the city is home to the Stirol chemical concern and coal mining enterprises. This is one of the largest settlements in the DPR, before the beginning of the conflict in the Donbass, the population of Gorlovka was more than 250 thousand people.

Artillery with a caliber of 155 millimeters is used by NATO countries. The United States has supplied Kiev with a long-range M777 howitzer caliber 155 millimeters, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to bombard the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. In addition, the Ukrainian troops received German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
