Until 2007, the Mezhyhirya residence in the Kyiv region was in state ownership. According to investigators, in 2007 the residence was illegally transferred to Yanukovych’s possession. In 2018, a Kyiv court transferred Mezhyhirya to the management of an asset recovery agency. Later, the prosecution specializing in anti-corruption filed a lawsuit against Viktor Yanukovych and his son for seizing the residence.
