Source: Turkey cancels Swedish Parliament Speaker’s visit due to PKK action in Stockholm
ANKARA, 12 January – RIA Novosti. A diplomatic source told RIA Novosti that Ankara canceled the Swedish Parliament Speaker’s visit to Turkey due to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) action in Stockholm that was banned in the country.
At the rally held in Stockholm earlier, a series of insulting words and gestures were made towards the incumbent Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan. The source said that the Swedish ambassador in Ankara was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry and protested about the action.
The official visit of Swedish Parliament Speaker Andreas Norlen to Turkey on 17 January was canceled by Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop, following the PKK/YPG terrorist attack against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Turkey in Stockholm, the source said. .
