The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan liquidated the channel for the resale of decommissioned and destroyed weapons.
ALMA-ATA, January 16 – RIA Novosti. The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan (KNB), together with the internal security department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, liquidated the channel for the resale of decommissioned and subject to destruction weapons, according to the press service of the commission.
According to a KNB press release released Monday, the criminal group includes current and former law enforcement officers, as well as accomplices involved in the secondary circulation of weapons and ammunition.
“The crime plan consisted of the fictitious destruction and subsequent sale of decommissioned firearms, ammunition and explosive devices,” the press release said.
During the detention and searches, 347 guns, 13 hand grenades and 7,387 ammunition were seized. An underground weapon modification workshop, run by a former police officer, was also liquidated.
“In the course of further operational development of the KNB, a whole network of client arms dealers appeared, consisting of representatives of criminals, subversive religious movements and former law enforcement agencies,” the press service of the committee said.
By the decision of the Almaly District Court of Alma-Ata, the perpetrators were sentenced to various sentences, from two to five years in prison.
Some law enforcement chiefs were dismissed for negative reasons, as they neglected their official duties and weakened their control over personnel.
