EU believes it can replace remaining Russian gas with renewable energy
BRUSSELS, January 18 – RIA Novosti. In a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, published on the forum’s website, European Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson said that the European Union could replace the remaining amount of Russian gas it receives with energy from renewable sources.
Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, previously stated that Russia cut 80% of gas supplies to the European Union in eight months of last year. Countries in the region said they were able to replace the deprecated Russian “blue fuel” without resorting to power cuts.
