AfD leader Khrupalla described the sending of Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev as a robbery of the German army

BERLIN, January 24 – RIA Novosti. Commenting on Spiegel’s article on the alleged decision that the government has already taken, Tino Khrupalla, leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, said that by supplying tanks to Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz would rob his own army and risk being drawn into the conflict. .

In a statement presented to RIA Novosti, Khrupalla said, “Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s decision to supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 battle tanks is irresponsible and dangerous. It threatens to plunge Germany directly into war.”

According to the opposition politician, the “robbery” of the Bundeswehr will continue with the replenishment of tanks serving in the German army.

“Thus, the chancellor endangers the safety of Germany and its citizens,” the politician writes.

Citing sources earlier, Spiegel stated that the German government had decided to supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 A6 tanks serving in the Bundeswehr. According to the publication, we are talking about the number of units corresponding to one tank company. At the same time, Politico, citing government officials, reported that the United States could send about 30 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

Russia had previously sent a note to NATO countries for arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that NATO countries were “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping weapons into Ukraine from the West will have a negative effect.
