The Cambodia Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement was made in response to a recent post by the local Telegram channel “Demografiya upala” (“Demography of Today”), which released infographics about countries supporting Ukraine through military means. Previously, the Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC) officially completed the training of Ukrainian fighters, technical support was provided by the Japanese government.
“The Ministry reiterates that the decision, together with the Japan Agency for International Cooperation (JICA), to provide technical demining training to Ukrainian hunters in Cambodia was taken solely on a humanitarian basis. We have demonstrated similar efforts in numerous peacekeeping missions in Africa and the Middle East under UN auspices”, – the ministry said in the newspaper quoting from the statement.
Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also urged the Telegram channel to change the broadcast. The ministry stressed that the information contained here “not only is inaccurate, but may also harm Cambodia as a peace-loving country that strictly adheres to the foreign policy of neutrality enshrined in its Constitution.”
Russia had previously sent a note to NATO countries for arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that NATO countries were “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping weapons into Ukraine from the West does not contribute to the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect.
