MOSCOW, January 26 – RIA Novosti. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the issue of changing the status of a special military operation due to the supply of US and German tanks to Kiev is not on the agenda.

Earlier, State Duma deputy from the Crimea region Mikhail Sheremet proposed changing the status of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, without specifying which, on the background of the decision of the United States and Germany to supply the Ukrainian army with tanks, but emphasized that the ongoing events have already gone beyond the usual military conflict.

“There is no such topic on our agenda, it is better to clarify some details with Mr. Sheremet,” Peskov told reporters.

On Wednesday, the German government announced that it has decided to hand over German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.Also Wednesday, the White House confirmed its intention to send 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. It will take several months for the cars to be delivered, according to US authorities. In addition, Washington plans to send eight M88 armored recovery vehicles to Kiev to service the tanks. As stated in the White House, the United States hopes that the supply of weapons to Ukraine will not only help Kiev in defense, but also allow it to seize lost territories, including the Crimea.
