Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala congratulates General Petr Pavel on election victory
PRAGUE, January 28 – RIA Novosti. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala congratulated Army General Petr Pavel on his victory in the presidential election, his speech was broadcast on local television.
“I congratulate Mr. Petr Pavel on his victory in the presidential elections in the Czech Republic,” said the head of government.
According to him, it is very important that there is a person in Prague who intends to unite the society, not divide it.
Pavel is leading with 57.1 percent of the vote in the second round of the Czech presidential election, after counting the data in 90 percent of the polls. His rival, former Prime Minister Andrei Babish, received 42.9 percent of the votes.
According to preliminary information, the turnout in the second round of elections held on 27-28 January was 70.1 percent. To win the election, it is sufficient for one of the candidates to receive an absolute majority of the votes. The inauguration ceremony of the new president will be held on March 9.
