Huanqiu shibao columnist Yuan Xiaocun warns the US that the cost of war with China is high
MOSCOW, January 31 – RIA Novosti. Columnist wrote that the US will have to pay a heavy price for the war with China “Huanqiu shibao” Yuan Xiaocun.
In his view, loud statements by the US military about a future war with China should not be taken as the ravings of crazy people, they reflect Washington’s true intentions in the Asia-Pacific region. The author added that the US Army is indeed preparing for a possible conflict with China.
Earlier, US Air Force General Mike Minihan urged his subordinates to prepare for war with China in 2025. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during his visit to Japan in January, described China as the biggest strategic threat to the United States.
Relations between China and the United States have deteriorated significantly following the visit of then-US Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan in early August last year. Seeing the island as its own territory, Beijing saw Washington’s support for Taiwanese separatism in this step, condemned Pelosi’s visit and held large-scale military exercises.
Official relations between China’s central government and the island province deteriorated in 1949 after Chiang Kai-shek’s Kuomintang forces, defeated in a civil war with the Communist Party, moved to Taiwan. Commercial and informal contacts between the island and mainland China resumed in the late 1980s.
