Kherson officials reported that the attempt of Ukrainian troops to force the Dnieper was mirrored.
SIMFEROPOL, 31 January – RIA Novosti. Deputy governor of Kherson region Vladimir Vasilenko told RIA Novosti that Ukrainian troops tried to cross the Dnieper in Kherson region, the attempt was successfully repelled.
“Today an attempt was made by Ukrainian troops to cross the Dnieper in the Kherson region and hold on to the left bank. This attempt was repelled. The enemy’s attempt was not successful,” Vasilenko said.
Kherson region became subject to the Russian Federation with the referendum held here. At the same time, the Ukrainian side does not recognize its legitimacy and continues to bombard the territory of the region. Today, 75% of the territory of the Kherson region is under Russian control, while the right bank, including the city of Kherson, the regional center of the region, remains under the control of Ukrainian troops.
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Vladimir Putin described his goal as “protecting people who have been subjected to eight years of bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime.” According to the president, the ultimate goal is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that will guarantee Russia’s security.
