Polish President invites NATO to give security guarantees to Kiev before alliance summit
WARSAW, 1 February – RIA Novosti. President Andrzej Duda told reporters in Vilnius that Poland had made a proposal to NATO to give Ukraine security guarantees even before the NATO summit in Vilnius.
Duda’s speech was broadcast by Polish television.
“Before the summit in Vilnius, we want to develop an agreement with our partners to provide Ukraine with some kind of security guarantee from NATO, that is, to take a step forward in terms of strengthening Ukraine’s security in the process of the future,” Duda said.
The summit of the alliance is scheduled for July this year.
He explained that Poland intends to carry out this work in anticipation of Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
“We hope to be accepted into the North Atlantic Alliance,” said the Polish president.
