MOSCOW, February 2 – RIA Novosti. Germany plans to allocate about 17 billion euros to strengthen its missile defense, the agency reported. Bloomberg with reference to sources.

“Germany is in talks with several defense companies to build a multi-layer anti-missile shield that could cost up to 17 billion euros,” he said, quoting agency sources.

According to sources, the government of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is in talks with Diehl Defense to purchase eight IRIS-T air defense systems worth between 2 and 3 billion euros. Sources reported that the plans include the Israeli Arrow 3 missile defense system, for which they will allocate a budget of 4 billion euros, and the US Patriot system, worth 10 billion euros.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Germany plans to purchase eight IRIS-T air defense systems for its armed forces, which the country had previously sent to Kiev. The German Ministry of Defense confirmed its intention to submit to the agency an agreement on the purchase of IRIS-T systems for parliamentary approval, but did not specify their number and timing.
