Naryshkin: The United States is increasingly trying to preserve the unity of NATO countries

MOSCOW, February 2 – RIA Novosti. Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, told RIA Novosti that as the United States spends more and more energy trying to maintain the unity of NATO countries for aggression against Russia, Washington immediately engages suspicious partners in the alliance.

“I must say that the Americans should make more and more efforts to keep the countries of the alliance in line with NATO’s aggression against the Russian Federation,” said Naryshkin.

The head of the Foreign Intelligence Service said, “As soon as one of the Allies shows doubt, we can clearly see that the doubter is immediately replaced with a harsh attitude. Germany’s position in the conflict between Germany and Russia.”

At the end of January, the German government announced that it had decided to transfer the German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Germany plans to establish two tank battalions. In the first phase, they plan to supply a company of 14 Leopard 2 type A6s from the Bundeswehr’s stocks.

Shortly before making a decision on the supply of tanks, German Chancellor Scholz pointed out that Berlin’s readiness to take such a step depends on whether partners and NATO allies make the same decision vis-à-vis Washington. However, the first government to publicly announce a positive decision was precisely the German government, and only after that came a similar statement by US President Joe Biden.

Russia sent a note to NATO countries for the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stated that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping weapons into Ukraine from the West does not contribute to the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect.
