Trump: Europe should increase aid to Kiev and US should negotiate for peace
WASHINGTON, February 3 – RIA Novosti. According to former US President Donald Trump, the United States needs to negotiate peace between Russia and Ukraine and increase European aid to Kiev.
At the same time, according to the former head of the White House, Europe is currently taking insufficient measures to help Kiev. “Europe needs to do more, because Europe probably does only a small part of what we do,” he said. According to Trump, the conflict in Ukraine affects Europe much more than the United States.
Trump stressed that he wants to see Ukraine and Russia “fight for the last time”.
Russia launched a military operation against Ukraine on February 24, 2022. President Vladimir Putin described his goal as “protecting people who have been subjected to eight years of bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime.” For this, according to him, it is planned to “disarm and demilitarize Ukraine” so that all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” in Donbass are brought to justice.
Russia had previously sent a note to NATO countries for arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stated that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that pumping weapons into Ukraine from the West does not contribute to the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect.
Lavrov noted that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, “including not only the supply of weapons, but also the training of personnel … on the territory of Great Britain, Germany, Italy and other countries.”
