Head of “Rosatom” Likhachev: the situation in the ZNPP has not passed the critical stage
ALMA-ATA, February 3 – RIA Novosti. The head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, said that the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant has not yet passed the critical stage, but “arrivals” at the ZNPP in recent weeks have not been registered.
“Unfortunately, until the critical stage has passed, the troop separation line runs right near the nuclear power plant. IAEA inspectors talk about it, they hear explosions, they hear echoes of artillery,” Likhachev told reporters.
At the same time, he said that “in recent weeks, we have not recorded arrivals at the nuclear power plant, although there have been attempts by drones to enter the ZNPP zone.” Likhachev added that these attempts were blocked by the security service.
He explained that this means that the reactors generate thermal energy without nuclear reaction due to electricity and therefore constantly supply heat to the city of Energodar.
He expressed confidence that Energodar can survive the difficult times and return to the normal operation of the nuclear power plant.
