GENICHESKY (Kherson region), February 3 – RIA Novosti. Russian artillery destroyed the Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer “Acacia” with the crew near Kherson, a source familiar with the situation told RIA Novosti.
“Acacia” – self-propelled howitzer caliber 152 mm. It was developed in Soviet times at the Ural Transport Engineering Plant. Armament makes it possible to suppress and destroy manpower, artillery and mortar batteries, rocket launchers, armored vehicles, as well as command points of tactical nuclear attack weapons. Self-propelled howitzer 2S3 of various modifications is in service in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Syria and other countries.
Last autumn, due to a possible worsening of the situation on the contact line, residents of the Kherson region were evacuated from the right bank of the Dnieper to the left, including Kherson and Berislav. Sergei Surovikin, who later commanded a group of Russian troops in the special operations zone, reported that the troops were withdrawing to enter the defense on the left bank of the Dnieper. Since then, Kherson and the right coastal part of the adjacent territory have been under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
