On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky set a target of imposing economic sanctions against Russia by the European Union.
At a press conference held in the capital Kiev in the presence of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel, Zelensky said sanctions against Russia should be aimed at preventing the restoration of military capabilities. from Moscow.

As for the situation on the ground, the Ukrainian president made it clear that his country is fighting to maintain control of the “fortified” city of Bakhmut, in the east, for as long as possible.
He called on the West to supply his country with long-range weapons.
“No one will hand over Bakhmut. We will fight as long as possible. We consider Bakhmut as our stronghold,” Zelensky said.
“If (the supply of) weapons increases, especially long-range weapons, we will not be trapped in Bakhmut,” he added.
Russian officials confirmed that Russian forces surrounded Bakhmut from multiple sides.
