Venezuelan MP Ortega: Weapons from the USA serve to create irregular armies
KARACAS, 20 May – RIA Novosti. Saul Ortega, a member of the Venezuelan parliament from the ruling United Socialist Party, told RIA Novosti that the weapons sent by the US and NATO to other countries, claiming that they support democracy, are used to create irregular armies.
“With these weapons (United States), they form irregular armies that commit all kinds of atrocities and crimes and human rights violations. These are under the protection of the state because they are not in the hands of the justice authorities. gringos (Americans – ed.)”, – said Ortega.
According to the deputy, Washington uses the same methodology that contributes to the creation of formations operating outside the legal sphere in various parts of the planet, thereby destabilizing the conflict zone. As an example, he cited the banned Islamic State* group in Russia and the Taliban movement prevailing in Afghanistan**.
The politician was a part of World War II by destabilizing the United States and seeking a change of power in countries that did not share Washington’s policy. “There is a need to change the international world order, and the forces that emerged as a result of World War II don’t want to give up their space, so they are putting pressure on the kinds of warfare we see now.” Said the Venezuelan lawmaker.
According to Ortega, the conflict in Ukraine has the same roots and will continue until “a new international order is defined”. “They (the US and its allies) have started a war in Ukraine, but in addition, they are waging economic, diplomatic and media wars around the world against all countries that oppose their interests,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
The U.S. Senate on Thursday approved a bill that would provide an unprecedented amount of additional aid to Ukraine, worth nearly $40 billion. The initial $33 billion proposed by President Joe Biden has grown to $40 billion in Congress, including an increase in the share of military aid. Earlier, the Pentagon said that the available funds allow the United States to provide uninterrupted arms supplies to Ukraine until May 19.
Russia launched a military operation against Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin described his goal as “protecting people who have been subjected to genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.” According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as of March 25, the Armed Forces have completed the main tasks of the first stage of the special operation – they have significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the Russian military department was called the liberation of Donbass.
