Belarus’ Permanent Representative to the UN likens politicians lying about Minsk agreements to diapers

UN, 17 February – RIA Novosti. Valentin Rybakov, Belarus’ Permanent Representative to the UN, compared Western and Ukrainian politicians, who made a series of confessions about the Minsk agreements, with diapers – “they need to be changed often.”

Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky admitted in an interview with Spiegel that he had told German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron that the Minsk agreements were “impossible” and that he did not plan to implement them. Prior to that, Merkel (who served as chancellor of Germany from 2005 to 2021) said that “the 2014 Minsk agreement was an attempt to give Ukraine time to strengthen.” In turn, François Hollande, who served as French president from 2012 to 2017, agreed with Merkel that the Minsk agreements gave the Kiev regime time to strengthen. Both attended the Normandy Quadruple summit, where a set of measures was agreed to implement the Minsk agreements. Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said during a visit to Kiev in January that the Normandy negotiation format was a “diplomatic imitation”.

“Eight years later, both the leadership of Ukraine and the former leaders of Western countries noted that the Minsk agreements were not only formally signed, without the initial intention to implement them, but also that the negotiation process as a whole, exclusively Rybakov, at the UN Security Council meeting, said that the military to resolve the conflict by armed means. He said he was making preparations.

“I quote.” The 2014 Minsk agreements were an attempt to buy time for Ukraine. As you can see today, he also used this time to become stronger. Ukraine 2014/15 is not the Ukraine of today. “Then I doubt very much that NATO countries will be able to do as much to help Ukraine as they do now,” he said.

“A quote from another elite peacekeeper who, incidentally, had to take part in the negotiation process: “Ukraine has strengthened its military potential since 2014, it has become completely different. He became better educated and equipped. “The value of the Minsk agreements is that they provide such an opportunity to the Ukrainian army,” he said.

He then quoted an interview with “another ex who promised to bring peace to Ukraine and whom the Ukrainian people believed at that time”. “Do you know what the success of the Minsk agreements was… This document gave Ukraine eight years to form an army, an economy and a global coalition pro-Ukraine, anti-Putin,” Rybakov said.

Recalling that in a recent interview Volodymyr Zelensky drew a line under the above quotes, he stated that the Minsk agreements could not be implemented at all due to some “deliberate mistakes”, in fact the death penalty was justified for the peace process in Ukraine. passed long before a full-scale armed conflict.

“These words remind me of the bumper sticker of a car I once saw in New York. It perfectly reflects the attitude towards such figures. The sticker read: “Some politicians are like diapers. They need to be changed frequently. And for the same reason,” said the permanent representative.
