Country: Ukrainian residents of Irpin complain of authorities’ inaction in restoring houses

MOSCOW, February 23 – RIA Novosti. Residents of Irpen in Ukraine’s Kiev region complain of authorities’ inaction in restoring destroyed homes and infrastructure, Ukrainian pressure “A country”.

The broadcast on the Telegram channel posted photos and video chats with local residents Tatyana and Evgenia, who complained that they are doing the restoration of the houses on their own at their own expense, the authorities are not helpful at all in resolving the issues.

“The roof was repaired by their own means, the windows were replaced by a private sponsor, I don’t even know who it was. At the beginning we were told that the house would be demolished and we had to move, but no one told us where to go. We lived without electricity, water, natural gas for a while. Seeing the authorities, they announced that the house would be restored, not demolished. Afterwards, we connected. Communication, but only on the first entrance, it was less damaged than the second,” Tatiana said.

He added that residents cannot restore the house at their own expense because it is too expensive. According to the woman, about 20 families currently live in the house, which was 15-20% of the previous population. “These are mostly retirees who don’t have enough money to live on, not to mention the restoration of their homes,” said Sakin.

Residents of neighboring houses have similar problems. For example, in the house where Yevhen lives, there are only 10 people left without 250 thousand hryvnia (more than 6.7 thousand dollars) to restore the power cable and substation – exactly that much is needed for repairs. According to the woman, people plan to go to protests in the spring if the authorities do not start helping them with the restoration of their homes.

“Local authorities say there is no money and they can’t help. But as the condition of the houses worsened, roofs began to leak, fungus and mold began to form. International delegations come to Irpen every week to get our attention, but there is no point,” Evgenia emphasizes.

Earlier on Thursday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said the country expects to spend $4 billion on reconstruction, with the first projects scheduled to be implemented this spring.
