TOKYO, February 24 – RIA Novosti. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said at a press conference in Tokyo that Japan is extremely concerned about the suspension of Russia’s participation in START.
“I express my deep concern this week when (Russian President Vladimir) Putin announced the suspension of participation in the START Agreement. The nuclear arms reduction debate is becoming more and more important, we will support it within the G7,” said Kishida. .
In a message sent to the Federal Assembly on February 21, the President of the Russian Federation announced that Russia had suspended participation in the Russian-American Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, emphasizing that the country did not withdraw from the agreement. “We must understand for ourselves what countries like France and Britain still claim and how to account for their strategic arsenals, namely NATO’s combined offensive potential,” he said before returning to the discussion.
