Yeni Şafak: Post-earthquake stress and skin disease complaints increase in Turkey
ANKARA, 28 February – RIA Novosti. According to the news of Yeni Şafak newspaper, complaints about stress and skin diseases started to come actively from citizens who survived earthquakes in southeastern parts of Turkey.
On February 6, earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 occurred in Kahramanmaraş at intervals of 9 hours. After hundreds of aftershocks, the tremors were felt in 11 provinces of the country and neighboring countries, including Syria. According to the latest data, more than 44 thousand people lost their lives in Turkey.
“After the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş, which is known as the ‘disaster of the century’, complaints about some stress-related diseases started to increase. Especially due to stress, eczema can occur. Skin disease caused by itching on the skin. Stress eczema, which is more common in women than in men, can turn into a serious condition over time.
The publication states that the emergence of eczema due to stress causes people to experience more stress.
“The result is a vicious circle. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment is extremely important in stress-induced eczema. If eczema is not treated or treatment is delayed, open wounds may develop in this area. Worse, there is a risk of infection. Because in order to eliminate stress-related eczema, first of all, stress factors must be eliminated. You should remove it,” the newspaper writes.
