Ambassador Sirraja: Sudan wants to share satellite data with Russia to protect borders

MOSCOW, March 12 – RIA Novosti. Sudan’s Ambassador to Russia Mohammed Elghazali Eltijani Sirraja said in an interview with RIA Novosti that Sudan is interested in exchanging information from satellites with Russia to fight terrorism and protect borders.

“During the visit of (Russian Foreign Minister Sergey) Lavrov to Sudan, the Russian side confirmed its readiness to assist African countries in the fight against terrorism. Of course, Sudan is ready to accept any assistance from Russia in this regard, across wide borders and facing serious difficulties. This is necessary in the context of cooperation between the relevant institutions in Sudan and the Russian side. Perhaps, first of all, we are talking about technical cooperation – for example, assistance in tracking movements using the satellite border, control and information exchange in this area,” said Sirraja.

He added that Sudan, which is the third largest country in Africa and borders seven more states, has recorded a “fragile situation” in the fields of politics and security in neighboring countries, including Libya.
