Georgian PM Garibashvili: Authorities are doing everything to get candidate status for EU membership
TBILISI, 12 March – RIA Novosti. Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili thinksthat the authorities have done everything to obtain the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union and that the country deserves it.
The heads of state and government of the European Union approved the granting of candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova at the summit held in Brussels on 23 June. The summit also announced its readiness to grant Georgia candidate status for EU membership after fulfilling a set of conditions.
“Our country deserves candidate status. If someone sabotages and wants to sabotage, it is destructive, anarchist forces,” the Prime Minister said in an interview with the Imedi television company.
According to him, the leadership is doing its best and has already done a lot in this direction.
“I’ve said many times and will repeat, judging by Ukraine and Moldova, we know what’s going on there … The latest EU report shows that we are far ahead, but everyone knows that a political decision has been taken. We are not jealous of anyone, but since we did everything, from a well-deserved receipt If we’re talking about it, we expect to get the status by the end of the year.”
