EMSC reports new 4.6 magnitude earthquake off Turkish coast
MOSCOW, March 16 – RIA Novosti. According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), a 4.6 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Turkey.
The earthquake was recorded at 19.59 UTC (22.59 Moscow time). The epicenter of the tremors is 46 kilometers southwest of Mersin province. January lay at a depth of 10 kilometers.
There was no information about possible casualties and destruction.
On February 6, earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 occurred in Kahramanmaraş at intervals of 9 hours. The shaking was felt in 11 provinces of the country, including Syria, and neighboring countries. In the earthquake, which the Turkish authorities called the “disaster of the century”, approximately 48,000 people in the country fell victim to the elements.
