“From today on, the garrison in Poznań starts operating,” said Mariusz Blaszczak, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of the Republic, who was present at the opening ceremony.

The permanent US military garrison in Poland came into existence when the Regional Support Group (Area Support Group Poland, ASG-P) was transformed into the US Army Polish Garrison (USAG-P.).
The Polish garrison will be the eighth permanent garrison of US forces in Europe and the first permanent garrison of US troops in Poland.
The Polish Ministry of National Defense noted that the unit was created according to the 2022 decision of the US President and will “provide infrastructure support to American troops stationed in the Republic of Poland.” It was stated that the tasks of the garrison would be “to lead and manage the outposts of American troops in Poland.”
Operating in Poland since 2020, the US Army Fifth Corps Forward Command was renamed Camp Kościuszko (“Camp Kosciuszko”) in July 2022.
