Kyodo: Japan will donate $470 million to Ukraine for energy and other needs

TOKYO, March 22 – RIA Novosti. During his visit to Ukraine, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida promised $470 million (62 billion yen) in unrequited aid for energy and other needs, plus $30 million for non-lethal equipment, Kyodo news agency reported.

During his visit to Kiev, Prime Minister Kishida pledged to donate $470 million for energy and other humanitarian needs.

“Japan will uninterruptedly provide as much support as it can,” the prime minister quoted the Kyodo news agency as saying.

In addition, Japan will allocate $30 million to Ukraine through NATO funding for non-lethal equipment.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visited Ukraine on Tuesday, where he met with Volodymyr Zelensky. Kishida is the only G7 head of state who has never met Zelensky in person. Returning to Poland after Ukraine, Kisida will meet with the Polish leadership on Wednesday.
